It looks like hard work continues to pay off for the cast, crew and producers of FOX’s musical drama Empire and ABC’s family comedy Black-ish. The popular shows have both raked in double digit nominations for the 2016 NAACP Image Awards with Empire snagging 12 and Black-ish grabbing 10. I must admit that I kind of lost interest in Empire but the show’s stars, Taraji P. Henson, Terrance Howard, Jussie Smollett, Bryshere Y. Gray and Grace Gealey are doing something right as the drama continues to bring in millions of viewers each week and each are in the running for individual performance awards.
One thing for sure and two things for certain, if you hire Tracee Ellis Ross you are hiring ALL OF HER. According to the actress, her hair, her ass and everything else is a package deal. In her recent chat with Entertainment Weekly, the star of ABC’s Black-ish dished on how exciting it has been for her to see hair that looks like hers on the small screen this year and what it means for women in today’s culture.
After more than six years since Girlfriends ended, Joan Clayton…I mean Tracee Ellis Ross lol, is back on the small screen with new ABC show Black-ish. During last week’s media tour to promote the family sitcom Tracee sat down with The Breakfast Club to discuss the show, cultural identity, Girlfriends and more. Check out a few excerpts from the interview below.
