I’m actually not doing what my mug says but I’m sure there are a few of you that are adhering to the COVID-19 social distancing suggestions, working from home and finding it hard not to. Here are a few tips to help you avoid falling victim to a lack of productivity while working from home.
- Create a dedicated place to work, if you don’t already have one. The best way to minimize productivity is to take your laptop to the bed. Don’t do it! Even if its the kitchen table, find a corner to work where you can concentrate and focus.
- Keep your “corona” routine as similar as possible to your normal routine. This will help you avoid distractions and maximize productivity. Veering away from what has worked for you in the office will lead to disaster.
- Set realistic goals. Let’s face it, no one who works from an outside office is as productive at home. Make your to-do list knowing that and therefore setting goals you can actually achieve.
- Schedule break times with beginning and end times. This will help you to work without distraction knowing you have that break to look forward to. It will also help you to stay locked in and not end up off track folding laundry instead of getting your work done.
