We’re still in the midst of our “Chatworthy Summer Give-A-Way Series” and one of our sponsors is Mielle Organics. The good people over at Mielle sent more than enough product for our give-a-way so I thought why not use the extra product myself and share my results so the other Mielle newbies like me can get a taste of their amazing line. I wanted to try something that would be universal to all naturals from those rocking TWA’s to us gals rocking funky twistouts and wash ‘n go’s. What’s more universal that moisture? So I decided to try their Avocado Moisturizing Hair Milk. I added this product to my wash day LOC process and was super happy with the results.
Let me tell you that my hair is thick and curly and can be very dry so it’s very easy for me to tell if a moisturizer is no good. My curls won’t be as smooth or defined and my hair will dry out very quickly. So here’s my wash day process and how I incorporated this Avocado Moisturizing Hair Milk.
Wash and Deep Conditioning: First I washed my hair with Shea Moisture’s Coconut & Hibiscus Curl & Shine Shampoo. I then deep conditioned with Shea Moisture’s Jamaican Black Castor Oil Intensive Strengthening Masque. I almost never deep condition under a dryer unless I am pressed for time and this day was no different. I applied the strengthening masque generously from root to tip, covered my hair with a plastic cap and left it on for about an hour while I did house work then rinsed thoroughly with warm water.
LOC Method: I then began the LOC (liquid-oil-cream) method on my wet hair. First I applied Shea Moisture’s Strengthen, Grown & Restore Jamaican Black Castor Oil Leave-In Conditioner (yes, I love Shea Moisture’s products lol). Next I applied No’Kyem Natural’s Shea and Macadamia Oil and then sealed it with the subject of this review, Mielle Organics’ Avocado Moisturizing Hair Milk, as the cream.
Styling: Now here’s where I see if my hair liked the new moisturizer lol. I planned to do a twist-out and because my curl pattern is so tight, I do a cool blow-out first to stretch my hair so that I get some length. When I’ve used not so great moisturizers in the past, my blow out was too frizzy and dry and resulted in my twist-out not being as defined as I desired. This was definitely not the case with Mielle Organics’ Avocado Moisturizing Hair Milk. After blow drying my hair it felt smooth and silky, not oily or heavy which is a no go. I like my hair to feel fluffy and light and that’s exactly how it hair felt after my blow out. I then sectioned my hair for my twistout and applied No’Kyem Natural’s Shea Amaretto Styling Meringue. I proceeded to twist my hair with four flat twists in the back and five two-strand twists in the front. I made a side part so the side with more hair had three twists and the other side had two. I left my twists in overnight. The next morning I rubbed a little No’Kyem Natural Shea and Macadamia Oil on my fingers, untwisted and fluffed.
Check out close up’s of my twist-out my below.
A beautifully moisturized twist-out. I took these pics in the car with the windows rolled down and the breeze blowing through my hair on an extremely humid day because when my hair is not moisturized properly my twist-out turns into a big bush once the humid air hits it lol. As you can see I maintained my style in spite of the humid air so it’s safe to say I love Mielle Organics’ Avocado Moisturizing Hair Milk and it’s definitely an item that will be added to my wash day process!
