If you were looking to get the tea from Karrueche Tran’s interview with Iyanla Vanzant, Iyanla says you may be disappointed. According to the life coach, Karrueche, to her surprise, was not forthcoming about the inner turmoil of her relationship with Chris Brown and did not bash him for cheating on and disrespecting her. She instead chose to be forgiving of Chris, who fathered a child with another woman during the couple’s four year on and off again relationship.
“The thing that was so surprising to me is how protective and forgiving she is of Chris. She repeatedly offered that he is only human and humans make mistakes. She said she knows he loves her and she just wishes things could change for him. I think I am a bit more troubled by his behavior than she is. I am disturbed that he has such a gift and blessing and continues to dishonor God, himself and women with no accountability. Prison was punishment and punitive. It did not teach responsibility or accountability for his behavior or as the steward of a gift. Anyway, she made no attempt to bash him and will probably come across as naive and relatable.”
I don’t know about being forgiving, but I don’t blame her for not bashing him. I don’t think that the interview should have been solely about her relationship with Chris Brown anyway. It should have been about helping her with the issues that made her stay with him after his mistreatment of her. What people don’t seem to understand is that a woman has to have self esteem issues, issues with men, daddy issues or some other underlying issue(s) that would make her accept the behavior that Karrueche has continued to accept from Chris. Bashing him does not help that at all and neither does focusing on the relationship for the entire hour. I really hope that Karrueche gets the help she needs to move on and get healthy.
Karrueche’s interview with Iyanla Vanzant will air March 28th at 8pm EST on OWN. In the meantime, check out the promo clip below.
