Amidst reports that he and two fellow NFL players assaulted a woman in an apartment in Miami, Florida, Kolin Kaepernick says everyone has it all wrong. According to TMZ, there was an incident report filed by an unnamed woman claiming that she had an encounter with Kaepernick, and two other NFL players, Quinton Patton and Ricardo Lockette earlier this month at a hotel in Miami. The woman told police she had hung out with the three football players in one of their apartments and eventually ended up in a bedroom with Kaepernick and was allegedly assaulted. The 49er took to Twitter to defend himself against the accusations.
The charges made in the TMZ story and other stories I’ve seen are completely wrong. They make things up about me that never happened. I take great pride in who I am and what I do, but I guess sometimes you have to deal with someone who makes things up. I want to thank all of the people who have shared their encouraging sentiments. I assure you that your faith is not misplaced.
No charges have been filed and Miami police have said that there is no evidence of sexual assault and would not go into detail about the investigation. We will have to wait and see how this unfolds but I sure hope for Colin that this woman is just looking for attention because this would not be a good look for the previously squeaky clean quarterback.
