A judge ruled that the police officer who leaked the photo of a bruised and battered Rihanna after her altercation with Chris Brown deserved to be fired. Officer Rebecca Reyes took the photo but says she didn’t send it to TMZ where it was viewed online by the public. She says she only took it to show to other officers and acquaintances. We don’t believe you, you need more people. If you would show it to “officers and acquaintances”, you would sent it to the media.
“At a minimum, the public is entitled to protection from unprofessional employees whose conduct places people at risk of injury and the government at risk of incurring liability,” Judge Luis A. Lavin wrote in his ruling.
Reyes’s attorney Ira Salzman, disagreed with Lavin’s descriptions of his client as unprofessional, saying she “made a singular mistake.”
Reyes had been an officer for 10 years before she was fired. She was assigned to a team planning to arrest Brown but after the assault but was pulled off the assignment. She saw an evidence photo of an injured Rihanna and snapped the photo.
What do you think? Do you agree with the Judge’s ruling or should the officer be able to keep her job?
