I love a kid with spunk and personality, and North West seems to have lots of both. It looks like those traits come in handy when you’re the daughter of Kanye West and Kim Kardashian. Yesterday footage of Nori and her nanny being swarmed by paparazzi on their way to ballet went viral. The toddler was clearly not here for the paps or their cameras. She could be heard saying “I said no pictures!” while being pulled along by the nanny. How cute…and sad. Sad that adults find nothing wrong with swarming a 2-year old on the street trying to get pic and sad that the little girl’s wishes were disregarded.
Social media chatter has some saying that Nori should be left alone and others saying that it’s her parents’ fault that stardom has followed their offspring and that they were probably the ones that called the paps in the first place. If the latter is case, then Kanye and Kim should be ashamed of themselves but the paps are still breaking the law. Halle Berry and a few other fed up actresses/mommies supported a bill that was passed last year making it illegal to harrass the children of celebrities.
“A paparazzo convicted of harassing a minor who has been singled out due to his or her parent’s profession (famous actors, singers, reality TV stars, politicians, etc.) can spend up to a year in jail — which is raised from six months previously. Fines can also be imposed, including $10,000 for the first violation, $20,000 for the second, and up to $30,000 for the third. The law also allows the parent or guardian of the child being harassed to seek civil liability.”
The text of the bill can interpreted in a variety of ways. Maybe what the paparazzi is doing is not “harrassment”, especially if the parents aren’t protesting. If that’s the case, Nori better get ready to be fighting with the paps for a LONG time.
What are you thoughts on the paparazzi getting up close and personal with celeb kids and taking pics?
