It looks likes things are moving pretty quickly for the upcoming Whitney Houston biopic. The film that is being directed by Angela Bassett and will focus on the Whitney’s career and personal life during the 90’s has cast the leading roles. We found out a few weeks ago that Whitney will be played by Yaya DaCosta. New pics have surfaced with Yaya as Whitney with actor Arlen Escarpata who has been cast as Whitney’s ex-husband Bobby Brown.
Solange Knowles is not your typical celebrity. She breaks the mold when it comes to her daily life and her approach to fame, preferring simplicity instead of flashing lights. The self proclaimed rebel talked to Lucky Magazine about why she chose to live in New Orleans, the elevator fight with Jay Z which she calls “the thing” and her new album. Read a few excerpts below.
‘Tis the season to be on Beyonce’s list of philanthropic ventures. The diva who donated $500,000 to Chime for Change back in June has now donated $7 million dollars to build low-income housing in her home town, Houston, Texas, for homeless men, women and children. How dope is that?
Chris Brown tore up the stage at last Sunday’s BET Awards during his first performance since being released from jail. The weekend that served as his musical resurgence also served as a coming out party of sorts for his girlfriend Karrueche Tran. Karreuche has been dabbling in modeling and hosting for some time now but recently it seems that the caliber of her endeavors has heightened. She hosted a few pre-awards events and attended a few more with Chris appearing to be
We covered the awards, performances and memorable moments but the fashion from last night’s BET Awards was a story all it’s own. Our fave red carpet looks were Ashanti in her all white glory and Keke Palmer in her futuristic gold ensemble. Ashanti has been killing red carpets for over a decade so no surprise there and Keke is slowly but
The 14th Annual BET Awards went down last night and there was no shortage of major moments. From old school flashbacks and tributes to tearful firsts for the new class this year was one of the best for the annual awards show.
Comedian Chris Rock hosted this year’s show and I am glad he did lol. He seemed fearless as he went in on this past year’s moments and he never let up. He even made fun of the elevator fiasco between Jay Z
After years of iconic success, then years of turmoil immediately prior to his death in June 2009, the King of Pop is back on top. Five years after his passing his estate is flourishing allowing his three children, Paris, Prince and Blanket, to enjoy an allowance of $8 Million a year and his posthumous album “Xscape” has sold over 300,000 copies
Robin Thicke is either really smart or really stupid. The singer released the video for the first single “Get Her Back” from his new album “Paula” which details the destruction of his marriage and his efforts to get his wife, Paul Patton, back after being unfaithful.
The first visual from the album shows Robin in dire straights pleading via text message for “P” to take him back. The crooner even tells her “I
The Council of Fashion Designers of America Fashion Awards took place last night. Tons of celebs were there and were honored but Rihanna shined bright like a diamond. The awards were presented in collaboration with Swarovski and it looks like the jewelry powerhouse collaborated with Rihanna as well. The Fashion Icon Award winner was draped in a nipple baring see through crystal ensemble that had heads turning.
The jury is still out on whether or not folks are feeling Rihanna’s look. Social media went nuts last night when the first photos hit the net. Some thought it was inappropriate while others thought that
Rumors of an Aaliyah movie have been swirling around for years. According to NecoleBitchie, it looks like it may come to fruition in the form of a VH1 produced biopic rumored to air on the anniversary of Aaliyah’s death, August 25th. When thinking about the production of a movie based on the life of the late singer, there are so many questions that come to mind. Will they talk about the R. Kelly situation? Will they include the Jay Z/Dame Dash saga? Will Timbaland and Missy be involved in the music aspect? Will they tell the FULL story? But the biggest and most important question for me is who can actually pull off playing the role of smooth but sassy, beautiful and ever so cool Aaliyah. None of the other stuff matters if they don’t get
Unless you’ve been under a rock for the last 24 hours, I’m sure you’ve heard about the physical altercation involving Beyonce’s husband Jay Z and sister Solange in an elevator the night of the MET Gala earlier this month. You’ve probably watched the video as well so this post is not about what happened. This post is about the aftermath. I know that with celebrity and fame comes scrutiny and lack of privacy and those who seek it should prepare for what comes with it, but how do you prepare for your ENTIRE LIFE to become public property? Beyonce and Jay Z have never claimed to be perfect or to have perfect lives. In fact, as private as they are, their music pretty much confirms that they have problems like any other

Michael B. Jordan seems to be on the move a lot these days with a host of new projects in the works. He was able to cool his jets for just a moment to speak with The Huffington Post recently and talked about some of the advise he has given as a mentor and ambassador of the Sprite Films National Short Film Competition, his recent feature on this season’s premiere of The Boondocks and if he wants to transition from actor to director in the future.
