Chattertainment was given the honor of serving as media consultants at SheROCKS 2014 this past weekend. SheROCKS, a celebration of women in the arts, was created by Timea Gaines, CEO of Love Life Media, LLC. After the tremendous success of the first ever SheROCKS in 2013, the community all but begged for Timea to make it an annual event. She answered the call with enormous dedication and creativity, once again bringing together women of all walks to celebrate the arts and each other.
Hosted by comedienne Tea Love, SheROCKS kept us entertained with musical performances including IhsAn Bilal, Ayana Songstress and Doretha Allen, as well as spoken word and poetry from Kezia and Shaina Lynn among others. There was never a dull moment on the main stage. In addition to the phenomenal performances, there was plenty more to keep us occupied. The place was packed with vendors from wall to wall with art in every form. From clothing, to hair products to creatively made bow ties, there was definitely something for everyone. Visual art displays and tasty food and desserts were a treat to the senses.
There was a lot to do and see but so much more to hear. Among the honorees were Woman of the Year, Eunique Jones of Because of Them We Can and Philanthropic Artist Reesa Renee who spoke about being examples of strength and what the creation of SheROCKS meant for women and the community.
Did Timea Gaines expect for SheROCKS to be this big? Did she plan for it to be annual event? I’m sure if you ask her she would say no. Did she create a platform of positivity for women to celebrate, support and simply enjoy each other. That she did, and it will be a staple in the community for years to come.
