The new line, Ah’Sarae, released TODAY at NoKyem.com. I spoke with Earashae about the new line, texture shaming and what set No’Kyem apart from the rest. Check out our chat below.

We’re still in the midst of our “Chatworthy Summer Give-A-Way Series” and one of our sponsors is Mielle Organics. The good people over at Mielle sent more than enough product for our give-a-way so I thought why not use the extra product myself and share my results so the other Mielle newbies like me can get a taste of their amazing line. I wanted to try something that would be universal to all naturals from those rocking TWA’s to us gals rocking funky twistouts and wash ‘n go’s. What’s more universal that moisture? So I decided to try their Avocado Moisturizing Hair Milk.  I added this product to my wash day LOC process and was super happy with the results.

Last month we gave you the inside scoop on new the book, “MISS JESSIE’S: Creating a Successful Business from Scratch — Naturally“,  detailing the journey of sisters Titi and Miko Branch from Brooklyn, New York to founding a salon and the infamous Miss Jessie’s hair care line that catapulted the natural hair movement. We were able to attend the DC stop of the Miss Jessie’s book tour earlier this week and hear first hand from Miko Branch how Miss Jessie’s became one of the first and most iconic natural hair line of the millennium. [PRODUCT REVIEW] No’Kyem Naturals Shea Amaretto Styling Meringue

I was super excited to receive my package from No’Kyem Naturals containing this Shea Amaretto Styling Meringue. My hair texture is thick and curly, and after being natural for a year and a half, I still have a hard time finding products for styling that give my hair definition. I have tried styles like twist-outs and braid-outs and have been left frustrated with a head of frizzy hair instead of the more defined look I was going for. So I tried this product for the first time on a flat twist-out with just four chunky twists.

[CHATWORTHY SPOTLIGHT] Natasha Gaspard Starts New Movement with Naturals4Change

Although the disparity between Black lives and non-black lives taken by law enforcement has been an issue for some time, 2014 was a year that catapulted the issue onto the world’s stage. Demonstrations took place around the globe protesting the killing of unarmed Blacks by law enforcement across the United States. New movements were formed, spearheaded by everyday people who before 2014 would have never considered themselves activists. One of those movements was Naturals4Change. I spoke with the founder of Naturals4Change, Natasha Gaspard, and we discussed the marriage between natural hair advocates and those who believe black lives matter.
