Essence Magazine Joins the #BlackGirlMagic Movement with New DocuSeries
Black girls being “magical” is nothing new, but the celebration of what makes black girls so amazing is definitely on the rise. Who know how and where the #BlackGirlMagic movement began but it taken it on a life of it’s own and we’re with it…And so is Essence Magazine. Who better to add to the celebration of black girls than Essence? The iconic magazine has launched ‘ESSENCE Black Girl Magic‘ presented by Walmart in an effort to spotlight young women across the country who epitomize Black excellence.
‘ESSENCE Black Girl Magic’, whose tagline is “6 Girls. 6 Stories. 6 Dreams”, will roll out six new episodes profiling a notable young woman of color being spotlighted by a different up-and-coming Black female director. The 2 for 1 episodes will also include supplemental bonus footage and director profiles, as well as regular highlights of #BlackGirlMagic.
Check out the first episode, which focuses on 18-year-old activist Sage Adams and is directed by Laurie Thomas, below.
