1st Annual All Def Movie Awards Celebrate Black Hollywood

All Def Movie Awards

Last night, just at the 88th Annual Academy Awards lifted off, Fuse aired the All Def Movie Awards 1 hour special. The 1st annual awards show hosted by comedian Tony Rock was a star-studded event that brought out the best of black hollywood including, Marlon Wayans, Regina Hall, Tyrese Gibson, Sanaa Lathan, who won best actress for The Perfect Guy, and Ice Cube and O’Shea Jackson, Jr. who received the award for Best Picture for Straight Outta Compton.

Although they weren’t in attendance, Will Smith won the Lifetime Achievement Award and Michael B. Jordan won Best Actor. It’s clear that the ADMA’s made it a point to celebrate that some feel were snubbed throughout awards season. Rumor that All Def Digital founder Russell Simmons and Tony Rock pulled the show together at the last minute to address the lack of diversity, but I hope it blossoms into something we can look forward to for years to come.
